The Housing Network Seminar 2007
ONI's Social Housing Team hosted the Housing Network Seminar at the Coventry TechnoCentre on the 14th June. The Housing Network was an exciting new event for 2007 specifically aimed at Housing IT Professionals. Hosted by ONI, the seminar focused on the key challenges being faced by Housing Associations relating to IT strategy. ONI worked with several leading RSL's to understand the subjects that were of importance and created an agenda for the day that promoted collaboration through an 'open forum' approach.
It presented an ideal opportunity for delegates to share their experiences and to network with counterparts in a relaxed, non-sales atmosphere. At the same time, attendees had the opportunity to listen and contribute to accounts from both IT Managers and Industry specialists alike.
Aims for the day were to:
- Discover how new technology could lead change, modernization and improve their relationships with tenants and the Public Sector;
- Learn how web-enabled contact centres, mobile communications, and IP convergence could help RSL's manage payments more efficiently , tackle environmental issues and improve communication;
- Gain an understanding of how a converged communications network could boost staff productivity, improve customer service and reduce operating costs;
- Hear how National Housing Federation members could make significant cost savings on IP telephony solutions thanks to recent initiatives with Cisco systems;
- And hear views of industry professionals, the press and independent consultants.

Bedfont Lakes Seminar
ONI hosted the Cisco Connected Real Estate (CCRE) seminar at Cisco's UK Headquarters, Bedfont Lakes on September 26th. Cisco Connected Real Estate comprises solutions that focus on the convergence of IT and building systems onto a common IP infrastructure, reducing operating costs and improving productivity.
On the day Cisco and ONI demonstrated how Cisco IP technology can:
- Reduce the capital expenditure on constructing a new building;
- Reduce the running costs of your buildings;
- Increase security and staff productivity;
- Offer owners and tenants flexible and adaptable working environments;
- Generate new revenue streams.
Aimed at business decision makers, the day consisted of key speakers from Cisco and ONI, along with demonstrations of the technology and a tour of the impressive Security Operations Centre. Through the day customers learnt how the IP network is emerging as the 4th utility, delivering more services whilst also reducing costs.
In addition the day included important updates on Cisco Unified Communications which will be relevant to both current and future Cisco IP Telephony Clients.
Manchester Seminar
ONI along with the National Housing Federation held a hugely successful conference at Manchester United Football club.
Housing Federation members from around the country attended the conference which explored how new technology is helping to drive efficiency, reduce costs and meet new government directives.
London Seminar
At the nationally renowned BT Tower, ONI held a seminar which attracted some of the most successful financial Institutions in London.
The day explored how the development of IP communications is revolutionising telecommunications and how IP telephony is changing the way financial institutions operate.
